Quote wall: Squish

On the bulletin board above my desk, I keep a handful of quotes that have taught me something, or that I hope to learn from.

Here's one:

You don't have to be famous if you don't want to. It's fun writing books.

My daughter asked why I looked a bit down, and I told her that I had to rewrite my novel. I might have sullenly added something like It's not like anyone's going to read it anyway, or some other self-pitying remark.

She offered me this quote, and I stuck it on my wall, so I never forget that my chosen art is meant to be fun. And that all the rest of the noise around the art is just that: noise.

I don't know how she got so wise so young.
